A Writer Writes

My blog is now in working order. Great! That means it is time to use it on a regular basis. Awesome… but wait … oh there are distractions!

Ok distractions aside… time to get to work. Aside from the contests I have entered this past year, I also intend to participate in Nanowrimo. It begins at midnight October 31st/Nov 1st. I am going to use this years Nano, to write the creation story for my Shift Series. I have been wanting to get that story done and what better time than during Nano. The creation story is not planned for public consumption, but it is not an improbability either. For now I craft the tale as a back drop to Wenny’s story. It helps me lend depth and richness to Wenny’s world of Asataur.

Which brings up another point. One of the things I struggle with, is remembering the details of my novels. Therefore I have very detailed files of notes. Imagine a room filled with papers all over the place … yeah, welcome to the inside of my head. It’s messy AF! I am super grateful to my computer, for helping me not only keep my stuff neat and tidy, but easily located when I need to recall. I have infinite awe and amazement for writers of the past, who were able to write epic tales by hand and without an electronic filing system. No wonder some of them were somewhat odd and eccentric. Oh but hmm. That may also be a natural condition of being an artist. Best not dwell on those thoughts too long … thats the psychedelic rabbit hole!

Ok so, Nano in November. Results of the NYC Midnight 250 word microfiction challenge should be in December I think. Still waiting to hear about the latest round of NYC Midnight flash fiction challenge. I did receive my PNWA results, and while I didn’t place or anything like that, I did get some really great feedback. With that feedback, I am now deep into revision six of First Shift. First Shift is my focus for publishing next year. So Let’s get after it! Finally I want to get back to at least one of my episodic tales, since those provide a great opportunity for writing exercises and some free content I can publish on my website.

This is where I am this week. (Oh and after a year of not working, I am employed part time starting yesterday. I’ll be making coffee and serving up liquid sunshine.) My next update will have me waded in to Nanowrimo 2021. I’ll provide a progress update and links to my Nano page. For now, Cheers! It’s time to check on Wenny!

Let me know what you think? Questions?
